I took a little “blog-break” in February, mainly because February is an uninspiring month in retail. Other than some excitement surrounding various secondary holidays, such as Valentine’s Day and President’s Day, February is pretty uninteresting. It’s mostly Winter, but here in California, signs of Spring, like daffodils and tulips, start to show up, only to give way to the only torrential rain we’ve seen all Winter — at the very end. This is Mother Nature’s “caught ya’ looking” act.
But now March has begun, along with the inevitable “change of the clocks” or “Spring forward!” Then, after all, it will actually become Spring in March. The Persian culture’s New Year is the first day of Spring. I’ve always thought this is a much more fitting day for a New Year to start. It just feels right to celebrate the first day of Spring — so hopeful, so renewing.
So here’s to March and all that it promises for the New Year. Happy New Year to all my Persian family and friends and Happy Spring to everyone!
